If you’ve written the perfect voter motivator send me a copy and I’ll turn it into a link.

Visitor NLS points out that some people use hotmail or gmail or yahoo, so that link may not work. In this case, you can just cut and paste this letter:
Dear friends,

I'm writing to ask you to vote. There will be a lot of negative ads trying to get you to stay home, but please don't.

I think the most important thing right now, the most effective thing we can do, is vote. So, would you also find five people you know, and make sure they vote. And ask them to do the same.

And, your vote matters. So do your neighbors'.

Pass it on,

Here’s the letter I sent my parents asking them to forward it to their friends:
Hi Mom,

Could you please send this note to your friends and our family, and ask them to send it to their contacts?

Please. Vote. November 7. (Registration info at http://www.yourethedecider.com/Register.html)

This election is so important, that I quit my job this past Tuesday to focus on getting the word out. I grew up with the no-longer self-evident notion that all men are created equal, with certain unalienable rights, among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Yesterday, the Republican-controlled Congress passed laws that take away fundamental freedoms in the consitution that have served this country well for more than 200 years.

These laws mean:
    * Evidence gained by torture would be admissible in trials.
    * People could be sentenced to death based on such unreliable and immoral evidence.
    * US Citizens can be declared 'enemy combatants' without even leaving the US, and have no recourse in court to challenge such a declaration, and then are subject to the treatment above.

Now, even if you think that these things are necessary to fight terrorism, ask yourself, does the government ever make mistakes? Do you ever make mistakes? Do you want your grandchildren to grow up in a country where torture is legal and American citizens are tortured?

And if we change our laws to fight terrorism, doesn't that mean that the terrorists won? Britain didn't when fighting the IRA. Spain didn't when fighting the Basques. We didn't need to during the cold war, or World War I, or the War of 1812, for that matter.

There's a lot of disagreement in the country today, but I'd hope we could agree that the constitution shouldn't be mucked with. Which means, saying no to the people who have. Legally, peacefully, at the ballot  box.

If you're not registered, register today. Some states have mail registration deadlines as early as October 6. And then, can you find five people you know, and make sure they're registered, and make sure they vote. And ask them to do the same.

If you know folks that have just moved, or turned 18, get them registered.
http://www.yourethedecider.com/Register.html shows you how to get signed up.

http://www.yourethedecider.com/ has a lot more words about who to vote for and why to vote. There will be a lot of negative ads trying to get you to stay home November 7, but please don't.

Your vote matters. So do your neighbors'.

Pass it on,
Kathy Tafel
